Carmel Music Society Presents Wu Han, piano

Presented by Carmel Music Society

"As both personality and artist, Wu Han seems to light a fire wherever she goes; she is a self-confessed risk-taker, a passionate, committed artist too busy making a difference to ever take credit." – MUSICAL AMERICA

Pianist Wu Han ranks among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Leading an unusually multifaceted artistic career, she has risen to international prominence through her wide-ranging activities as a concert performer, recording artist, educator, arts administrator, and cultural entrepreneur. Wu Han is a recipient of Musical America's Musician of the Year award, one of the highest honors granted by the music industry.

In high demand as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician, Wu Han performs at many of the world's most prestigious concert series and venues across the United States and around the world. Highlights of her 2017–18 season include international and domestic tours as a duo with cellist David Finckel, and collaborations with a stellar lineup of artists and ensembles.

This year, she continues her important work with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS); reunites with violinist Philip Setzer for performances of the complete cycle of piano trios by Beethoven; announces Music@Menlo's sixteenth season; and completes the filming of a two-part television feature soon to be carried on several PBS stations. Recently, she joined CMS artists on a grand tour of the Far East with appearances at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, Hsinchu Performing Arts Center and the National Concert Hall in Taiwan; and she continued to expand the presence of chamber music in South Korea with the seventh annual Chamber Music Today festival.

This performace is scheduled to showcase pieces by Tchaikovsky and Schubert.
