Classroom Connections Sign-Up

Enrich. Educate. Entertain.

Classroom Connections, SCC's signature free arts education program has served over 12,000 students on the Central Coast! Our program brings featured Sunset Presents artists into local schools to enrich, educate, and entertain young minds. Uniquely in depth, Classroom Connections consists of a comprehensive interactive curriculum which aims to foster imagination, confidence, knowledge and a sense of possibility in students.

How it Works:

Step 1. Preparing the students: Students experience an interactive class led by SCC Arts Education staff members to place into context the touring performers' art form.

Step 2. Artists travel to the classroom: Touring artists visit school classrooms and teach students about their art form through interactive processes and discussion.

Step 3. Sunset Center student matinee: Students, teachers, and chaperones attend a one-hour, 10AM matinee performance by the touring artists.

Step 4. Follow-up lesson: SCC Arts Education staff members return to each participating classroom and lead a post-performance discussion for students and teachers about their experience.

The program works on a first come, first serve basis. Our priority of equitable ways to serve schools means we seek attendance from schools who have not yet had the opportunity to participate.

If you are interested in participating, please email Community Engagement Manager Elana Kline-Thompson at elana@sunsetcenter.org. When emailing please include the following information:

  • School Name
  • Teacher Names
  • Grade Levels

NOTE: Chaperone Policy – We seat teachers, students, and families together and will accommodate as many chaperones as possible, however, priority seating is given to students in the auditorium.
