About the Performers
Cuarteto Casals is one of the world's most celebrated string quartets, internationally recognized for its expressive performances, award-winning recordings, and commitment to both historical and contemporary repertoire. Founded in Madrid in 1997, the ensemble has appeared at many of the world's premier concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna's Musikverein, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Their program for this evening spans more than 175 years of musical history, featuring masterpieces by Haydn, Shostakovich, Bach, and Mendelssohn. The quartet is comprised of founding violinists Abel Tomàs and Vera Martínez, violist Cristina Cordero, and cellist Arnau Tomàs—each an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and respected educator. Together, they bring exceptional artistry, technical brilliance, and profound musical insight to audiences around the world.
