Celebrate Gospel Heritage Month with an unforgettable evening of music, inspiration, and community. John "Johnny" L. Nash Jr. and the Monterey Peninsula Gospel Community Choir present a powerful concert honoring the compositions of Grammy Award winner Richard Smallwood, whose music beautifully blends classical and gospel traditions.

This special black-tie-optional event will feature the Monterey Peninsula Gospel Community Choir alongside an extraordinary lineup of guest artists and musicians, including guest conductor Damien Sneed, guest violinist John Wineglass, and acclaimed vocal soloists Dottie Jones, an original Smallwood singer; Charrisse Nelson of Smallwood's Vision; Seattle Opera soprano Elaina Lewis; and Chicago baritone Martin Woods.

Join us on Sunday, September 27, 2026, for an evening of uplifting music, exceptional artistry, and heartfelt celebration as classical and gospel traditions come together in tribute to one of the most influential composers in gospel music.

Additional details regarding the reception will be shared with VIP ticket holders closer to the event date.

Ticket cost includes a facility fee valued at $1, $2, or $3 based on price of the ticket. Tickets for non-Sunset Presents performances may also include a box office fee not to exceed $4.
