Nature Printing Workshop

The workshop fee is $20 per person. Participation is open to all. You do not need to have a ticket to the afternoon performance of Life On Our Planet in order to purchase a ticket to the workshop.

Deepen your relationship to our planet with a Nature Printing Workshop led by local artist Elizabeth Murray. Immerse yourself in her exhibit Rites of Renewal: In Kinship With the Earth, currently on display in the Marjorie Evans Gallery, then create your own nature prints with Elizabeth. Participants will print from tree rounds, leaves, and feathers to create original artwork to take home!

Each wood round has been carefully collected, sanded, burned, and wire brushed so the winter growth rings rise to the surface. Using ink and your hands, you will create a striking impression while observing the story held within the rings. You can count a tree's age and reflect on its health, the weather it endured, and its species. Trees serve as witnesses, sometimes for hundreds or even thousands of years. As you print, you may find yourself reflecting on your own life's rings and the legacy you hope to leave.

The exhibition Rites of Renewal: In Kinship With the Earth runs from March 3 to April 30.
