To paraphrase a famous local writer, Big Sur is "Nature gazing at herself in the mirror of Eternity."

And so, the artists of Big Sur Artworks love Her — undulating and lying with Her feet and sometimes Her red kelp hair flowing onto the shore, Her hills and ravines, Her golden curves and deep green forests, all flowing into their dreams and onto their canvases. 

Big Sur Artworks is a group of painters who have lived in Big Sur, watched Her, recognized their humanity amid Her strength. They see this landscape and paint the glow within.

Big Sur Artworks: Magical Big Sur can be viewed in the Marjorie Evans Gallery from November 4 to December 19, 2026. Join us as we welcome Big Sur Artworks with a FREE public reception in the gallery on Friday, November 20, from 5-7 pm.
