"That evening proved that the Sunset Center is much more than a beautiful building."

The Sunset Center has been part of my life in so many meaningful ways. As someone who believes deeply in the power of the arts to bring people together, I've been fortunate to attend so many performances, art shows and workshops. I also produce fundraising performances there that not only supported important causes but also created unforgettable experiences for our community.

One memory stands out above all the others. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when so many theaters had gone dark and people were feeling isolated, we transformed the Sunset Center parking lot into an outdoor concert venue for Halloween. With two live bands, music once again filled the air. Families laughed, danced, and celebrated together at a time when hope was in short supply. That evening proved that the Sunset Center is much more than a beautiful building—it is a place of resilience, creativity, and community.

What Sunset means to me today: As the Sunset Center celebrates its 100th anniversary, I think about the countless artists, volunteers, patrons, and visionaries who have made it such a treasured landmark. For a century, it has inspired creativity, enriched lives, and brought people together through shared experiences.

Today, the Sunset Center represents the very best of our community. It is a place where music, theater, and creativity inspire us, where people of all ages come together, and where artists and audiences share experiences that enrich our lives. It continues to be one of Carmel's cultural treasures and a place where memories are made.

My hope for the next 100 years: My hope is that the Sunset Center continues to thrive as a home for creativity, education, and community. I hope it remains a place where emerging artists are encouraged, world-class performances inspire audiences, and people from every generation feel welcome. May it continue to adapt, innovate, and serve as the cultural heart of our community, creating unforgettable experiences for the next 100 years—just as it has for the past century.
