Sunset Stories
Timothy Carr's Sunset Story
Timothy Carr's time at Sunset School lasted only one semester, but more than six decades later, the memories remain.
In the fall of 1963, Timothy attended fifth grade at Sunset School. As the son of a naval aviator, moving was part of childhood. By his second semester, he had traded California for Oahu, Hawaii, where he attended Song of the Sea.
Of all his memories from Sunset School, some of his favorites are also some of the simplest: the time spent outside playing kickball and baseball with his classmates.
The school grounds have changed considerably since Timothy was a fifth grader running around those fields, but his memories offer a glimpse into another chapter of Sunset's history — when the property was filled with students, classrooms, playgrounds and everyday childhood adventures.
Timothy's story is a reminder that even a relatively brief time at Sunset can leave memories that last a lifetime.
