DakhaBrakha

Presented by Sunset Presents

DakhaBrakha is a world music quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine. Reflecting fundamental elements of sound and soul, Ukrainian "ethno-chaos" band DakhaBrakha create a world of unexpected new music.

The name DakhaBrakha is original, outstanding, and authentic at the same time. It means "give/take" in the old Ukrainian language. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, Russian, and Australian traditional instrumentation, the quartet's astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture. Led by Vladislav Troitskyi and born as a live theater music crew, DakhaBrakha is a project of the Dakh Center for Contemporary Art. DakhaBrakha has performed at esteemed venues around the country, including the Kennedy Center's Millennial Stage, and will be appearing in Carmel just prior to two sold-out performances at SF Jazz. Experiencing the quartet is a gift that is unforgettable and rare. Don't miss your chance to purchase tickets before they sell out.

The SCC team is proud to be hosting DakhaBrakha and stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Says the band's manager, "We will go, and we will continue our work and show our culture to the world." SCC is humbled by the opportunity to provide a safe space for Ukrainians to share their art and cultural identity.

SCC is grateful for the opportunity to provide a direct donation link to Ukrainian relief organizations in conjunction with DakhaBrakha's performance at Sunset Center.
